Daisies:

Earth, Moon, Sun and Stars,

Fulfills Daisy Badge: Space Science Explorer

Using our bodies, we’ll learn how the earth, moon and sun rotate and revolve. We’ll make moon craters, a moon model, launch a rocket, and experience what it might be like to live aboard the international space station.

Marble Ramps and Roller Coasters

Fulfills Daisy Badge:

Roller Coaster Design Challenge

We’ll use a variety of marble ramps and up-cycled materials to design and build our own rollercoaster as we explore the relationships between gravity, slope, momentum and velocity.

Brownies:

Fantastic Fliers

Fulfills Brownie Badge: Mechanical Engineering: Fling Flier

Join us as we uncover the science behind concepts such as lift and air pressure. We'll build our own gliders, hovercraft and airplanes and test them out on our runway. We'll use trial and error techniques to perfect our designs in hopes of creating the perfect flying machine.

Diary of  Worm, Mealworm, and Spider

Fulfills Brownie Badge: Bugs

In this interactive experience we’ll observe mealworms in three stages of life, true worms and a model of a spider. We’ll compare and contrast how each moves, eats and grows. Finally, we’ll make puppets of each animal.

Home Scientist:

Fulfills Brownie Badge: Home Scientist

In this class we will mix a variety of household items, test them for their acidity by using a ph indicator, make a lava lamp and create an explosion. Each participant will take home a project.

Juniors:

CSI Investigation:

Fulfills: Detective Badge

Gather clues, collect evidence and solve a real mystery. We will compare fingerprints, learn how DNA is analyzed and organize evidence in an attempt to prove who stole the girl scout cookie dough?

Mechanical Engineering Badges:

Learn about women inventors, laws of physics and simple machines. Brainstorm, design and test your instruments, then improve upon your work, to create the ideal tool using up-cycled materials whenever possible.

Badge #1

Balloon Race Car

Learn what propels a balloon forward in the opposite direction from which the air is released. Design and build a balloon car by attaching wheels and axles to a cardboard box, then race them down our runway.
